Annual Projects

The Smithfield Kiwanis Club is a 'Service Organization', and we conduct four major events every year, plus multiple other service-related (and fun) activities.  Our major events are the Annual Golf Tournament in May, the Fishing Clinic in July, and the Christmas Toy Store and Santa Breakfast in December.

Santa Breakfast

Held every May at the beautiful Cypress Creek Golf Course in Smithfield.  A team event, with four golfers, with prizes for Lowest Net, Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, and a Putting Contest.

 

We raise nearly $8,000 every year for our local projects, with local businesses and townspeople paying for team entries and sponsoring holes and other golf activities.

Held every July at the  Buckroe Pier.

 

We provide rod and reel, shirts and hats, lunch, and lots of hands-on assistance to over 200 inner-city youth, most of whom have never had a 'day at the Pier'.

 

The kids learn about fishing - and about working together in a healthy, outdoor, supportive atmosphere.

Held every December in the Smithfield Center.

 

We provide toys and books for over 200 children on the local Social Services roles.

 

Social Services provides data about what specific children want, and we have a great time shopping for the toys, then giving them to the parents - who give the gifts to their children.

Held on the morning of the Smithfield Santa Parade in the Smithfield Center.

 

We provide Santa and a hearty pancake breakfast for all interested children and family.

 

Our Santa Breakfast has become a Smithfield family institution, and our Kiwanis families have a joyous Christmas event with the children and families of Smithfield and Isle of Wight.
